I was talking to a good male friend the other day about, what else-online dating. He’s been chatting with a girl online for a few days and was thinking of ideas on where to take her on their first date. I nearly choked on my coffee when he told me he wanted to take her to Disneyland…not because I thought she wouldn’t like it (it’s Disneyland, all girls go ape shit over that stuff), but because it’s EXPENSIVE. Now, maybe I’m a bit jaded, but dropping over 500 dollars on a date, let alone on a date with a perfect stranger seems a bit excessive. I get it-he wants to impress her, but what he didn’t understand was that there are ways to do that without having to eat ramen for a week.
Lets get started with cheap dates
Like what? Well, I’m so glad you asked!
Don’t start laughing…a picnic is actually my favorite date idea. You don’t have to sit in a crowded bar or restaurant, and you decide how much you want to spend on what you put in the basket. Picnics can be as elaborate or casual as you’d like-grab two sandwiches and a six pack from the deli, or pack a fancy 4 course lunch.
Dive Bar/Local Pub
Forget the expensive wine bars. Hit up a low key pub and throw a few back and have a few laughs. Mess around with the jukebox, or play pool and darts. This is a great idea if you are meeting each others friends for the first time, too.
Indulge Your Sweet Tooth
Maybe it’s because I have a ridiculous sweet tooth, but I’d much rather eat peanut butter and jelly at home for dinner and then go out for dessert than spend money on an entire meal. Plus, it’s a bit sexy to meet up later in the evening and share some chocolate… try using the sex sites by www.sexylips.co.uk for the best results.
A guy took me on a fabulous date once with absolutely NO plan. We parked in an area of town that looked like fun, and explored the funky shops, yummy restaurants and people watched. Sometimes, you just gotta see where the wind blows you. Obviously, for my OCD lovers, this one could be quite the stretch. Loosen up!
Get Sweaty (No, not like that!)
Ok, so maybe wearing gym clothes and getting all sweaty in front of your date isn’t your idea of a good time, but being active together is actually quite romantic. I’m not suggesting you hit up his and her treadmills, but something like a beautiful hike, rock climbing, or running on the beach would get your blood pumping, competitive spirit running, and would be a great way to kick off a relationship. It’s about fun, not money.
